The field tiles are ceramic with a polished marble-like finish. But the top of the pony wall and the niche's shelf/frame are real marble. The two different materials have identical color and veining, so it all blends together.

We haven't had time to grout the tile so the dark outlines are just shadows in the empty joints. We'll be applying white grout soon.
